Nutri-Ventures | teaching to eat with the aid of cartoon heroes

  • Compete , Finance and Venture Capital

It may seem like child's play, but this is a very serious matter: using a cartoon series to teach healthy eating.

Nutri-Ventures is a company founded by Rui Lima Miranda and Rodrigo Carvalho, which received 250,000 euros from Red Star. Red Star is a firm of business angels focusing on highly innovative projects with international potential. It has an enterprising team of angels who work closely with the promoters of the projects that it funds.

In order to guarantee the already highly successful project, the two businessmen created a cartoon series designed to educate entertainingly. They have the help of four friends, Lena, Teo, Nina and Ben, in persuading children to choose healthy food.

The series is designed for viewers aged 6 to 10. It has three seasons scheduled and will debut in Spain and Portugal in 2012.

The scientific accuracy of the work is guaranteed by the Portuguese Nutritionists’ Association (Associação Portuguesa de Nutricionistas). The two partners continue to publicise the project and form partnerships with promoters of wellbeing, such as the World Health Organisation and Michelle Obama's Let’s Move.

This is the story of a good idea that might not be telling such good stories without the qualified investment of business angels.
